It has been a busy month in the Red Room, filled with so much fun! Below are some updates and highlights from our classroom. 😊
Letter time:
We have learned so many things this month, including some new letters! We have recently learned about the letters ,”F”, “G”, “E” and “U”! During our Letter Time, we have been reviewing all the letters we have learned thus far. Something our class has especially enjoyed during this time has been our “warm up.” Together we dance and sing to a song called, “Where Do You Start Your Letters?” Has your kiddo ever come home singing this song?
Field Trip to a local Grocery Store:
If you haven’t heard yet, our classroom now has its very own grocery store! We transformed our dramatic play area into the “Cheetah Grocery.” Through all of our play and exploration, we realized it would be helpful to visit a real grocery store to ask questions and learn more about how one works. We took a trip to Gristedes and had such a blast! While we were there, we completed a scavenger hunt and searched for many different items throughout the store. Before we left, we also had the chance to ask the manager, Debbie, some questions to help us make our grocery store at school even more successful. Overall, this trip was a huge success! We learned so much and had a wonderful time exploring. We hope to visit another grocery store in the future to continue our learning and bring even more ideas back to our classroom. Be sure to ask your kiddo what their favorite part of this trip was!
Play Dough Making:
Our class worked together to make some homemade playdough! This activity helped us practice following directions, taking turns, and strengthening our hands as we mixed and kneaded the dough. After combining all the ingredients, we added a beautiful shade of blue, which made the playdough even more exciting. The children were so proud of the final product they created together. Now our homemade playdough is an even bigger hit during open time!
