Educators

At Barrow, we recognize that outstanding communication is an essential component of a high-quality school experience for families.

At Barrow Street Nursery School, educators are the soul of our school.

They bring their interests, their dreams, their artistry, and their questions into the classroom everyday. In doing so, they form relationships with their students, families, and colleagues. It is through these relationships that meaning-making flourishes, learning thrives, and community forms. Their work as partner and guide for children and families is essential work, and is made that much more meaningful when they, too, are given opportunities to be in the role of learner.

“The definition of the teacher’s professional identity is not viewed in abstract terms, but in contexts, in relation to her colleagues, to the parents, and above all, to the children; but also in relation to her own identity and her personal and educational background and experience.”

Rinaldi, C. (2006). In dialogue with Reggio Emilia: Listening, researching and learning. New York: Routledge.
