Welcome to the The Aurora’s Gazette. You can expect the Gazette twice monthly on Fridays. It will update you as to the goings on in our classroom, and give you full picture of our Brown Room community!
And now, for this week’s Gazette:
I Can Make a Rainbow
Each week during our Wednesday Open Time, The Aurora’s have a chance to visit the Rainbow Room in half groups. While there, they work with Brenna on different art project that support our curriculum work in the classroom. They are also reminded that the Rainbow Room is a space for community. The children are challenged to think about themselves, our school community, and the world.
This week, Brenna invited the children in to think about homes. Using the colors from the Brown Room’s “Haunted House” (on display in our hallway), she asked the children to mix green and purple to make brown. Each child was offered their own space to work, making sure that everyone had what they needed, while working on a communal piece of paper. They also had the opportunity to help paint trees that are used by the whole Barrow community.
As they mixed, Brenna invited them to think about what other colors might help make brown. The children added red, white, black, and blue.
We are excited to continue our work with Brenna this year in the Rainbow Room!
