To celebrate the end of the semester and all of the 4/5s’ interest in precipitation, we made snow globes in science. Measuring, pouring, estimating, and patience were all involved. Once the lids were glued shut, the children had a unique science treat to take home.
We will discuss their snow globes again in January as we start to learn about the science of the snow globe – some of the things we will learn were already brought up in discussion during this exploration—new vocabulary for some of our 4/5s: density, viscosity, and gravity.
And sending some Shine – Some of my friends were worried they might see some evaporation and condensation inside their snow globes! The 4/5s are using their new science vocabulary and knowledge, which is music to my ears.
