On Mondays during Morning Meeting, teachers introduce the latest Letter of the Week. This week is the letter A, which we’re learning makes the short /a/ sound like in apple. The excitement for the Letter of the Week bubbled over into snack time where many friends were excitedly building the uppercase letter A with their pretzel sticks!
First one child showed me her pretzel A and then many friends caught the inspiration and built their own versions. Some friends continued to build other letters that were important to them, like pretzel N! One child also made an H and another child made a V.
The Flexible Foxes are really noticing how letters are made up of different lines and curves and applying that knowledge! Some kids were commenting on how it would be hard to make an R or a B with pretzel sticks because the sticks don’t have any curves.
