Family Week Preview

During our Thursday Morning Meeting, we asked your Super Lollipops “What is a family?” Some answers included:

“It’s a mommy, a daddy and kids.”

“Families are people that keep you safe and love you.”

“Families can have two mommies, or two daddies. Some people don’t have a mommy or daddy.”

“Family is people you live with at your house.”

We are using the book, “All Kinds of Families,” by Norma Simon to guide our conversations. We began reading this book today, working with the children to celebrate the similarities and differences between our own families.

Throughout next week, we will continue to read stories and discuss more ideas about how families come in all different shapes and sizes. Leemie will also be bringing his VIP, a friend that feels like family named Pinky the Bunny, to our classroom VIP celebration. We know that discussions of family can bring up lots of feelings, so as we move forward into Family Week, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or wonderings.
