Bowery Mission Care Kits – Ready for Delivery!

In our last post, we shared about our Bowery Mission Service Learning Project. Now that all of our Care Kits are assembled and ready to be brought to the Bowery Mission, we wanted to fill you in on how we got here!

After reading some books about caring for others, we made a chart filled with different wants and needs your children have.

Here were some of the Two Trains’ Needs:

– PB&J Sandwich

– Fruit

– Shorts

And, here were some of the Two Trains’ Wants:

– Skateboard

Toy House

– Car

To see the rest, come check the chart out! It’s hanging in our classroom 🙂

Then, we came up with a list of things we need to take care of our bodies.

Finally, we introduced the project itself. We let them know that we would be creating “Kits” for people who do not have forever homes, and therefore, don’t have all the things they need to take care of their bodies.

To prepare, we decorated the kit bags with lots of hearts and words to express love and care.

Then, we got to work assembling our kits!

We want to send a big thank you to our class parents for helping to not only organize such a special project for the Two Trains but also for helping to deliver our Care Kits to the Bowery Mission!
