Blue Room’s First Week!

The past week in the Blue Room has been a flurry of activity!!

On our first day of school, we read All Are Welcome Here by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman. Upon hearing the book’s refrain, “all are welcome here,” one child remarked, “Just like in our classroom!” We are so looking forward to continuing to get to know each other in the coming weeks.

This week during Story time we read:

All Are Welcome Here by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman

Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall

The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld

The Friend Ship by Kat Yeh and Chuck Groenink

We have been busy making new friends and building our Blue Room community! This has included some very lovable classroom stuffies. Each day this week, to help us learn each other’s names and practice speaking up in whole group times, we’ve met and passed around a new stuffie. With great enthusiasm and creativity, Blue Room friends have been naming each of our stuffies. So far we have Fox Fox the red fox, Heron Heron Love Love the great blue heron, Serena the whale, and Jumperoo the puppy!

Welcome to the Blue Room Cafe!! During lunch time, the Blue Room transforms into the Blue Room Cafe! There are fancy votives at each table, lively conversations, and lovely music from “the band” (otherwise known as the classroom speakers). When we announced the Blue Room Cafe, children exclaimed “We are cafe makers!!” and “Wow, we get to go to a cafe just like our grown ups!”

Ask Me About!

We know it can be hard to get some 4 year olds talking about their school days – here are some “Ask Me About” questions that we’ll include in each our Storypark Group Posts to help scaffold some of your conversations:

Who are your class stuffies? How do you choose their names?

What happens at the Blue Room Cafe?

What is your favorite thing to do during Work Time?
