I love black lights. In college I wrote an entire two books of a journal in highlighter while bathed in the purple glow. It was this experience combined with countless dances and parties spent in this radiance that inspired the blacklight office. The office part just came about through the logistics of getting the lights to beam downward. The partitions were used for this angling, but they also made for an amusing late 80’s cubicle feel.
I offer the artists small sized paper to draw on with the florescent pens and show them some detailed “doodles.” The idea is that since the pens are so amazing to look at, that even subtle little marks show up clearly, inspiring delicate dots, mini-swirls and colorful squiggles.
