On Tuesdays, we have half group time while the other half of the class is in Music. This week, the small groups had the chance to do a build with Marble Run. We challenged the group to work as a team to build their structure, and they immediately jumped in! They first grabbed pieces that stood out to them to include in the creation. They showed off the pieces to each other while commenting on the size and color, and they questioned how each piece might be used. They then got to experimenting, taking turns connecting parts. After each new piece was added, the group would exclaim “Let’s see what happens now!” and Julia would give them a marble to test it out. The group was overjoyed at the end of each test, and shared their noticings with one another on what changed and what stayed the same. We were amazed by the patience and supportive teamwork the group exhibited during this time! They lifted up each other’s ideas and worked through tricky moments (like the marble getting stuck or falling off the track) with laughter and light-heartedness. The Ball House continues to prove that their love for each other (and a good time) fuels them as they build higher and higher!
