Dear passengers, we wanted to thank you for flying with Barrow airlines today. Please fasten your seatbelts!
The Ice Creams have taken a great interest in airplanes and in-flight procedures. This started through their dramatic play with chairs, pretend in-flight snacks, and using their backpacks as luggage.
One friend finally asked, “When are we going to go on a real airplane together?” So, the Ice Creams took to crafting and painting one themselves! They created and decorated their own airplane window to look through. This became a feature in our dramatic play area, further inspiring classroom airplane trips.
Once the window was ready, we decided to take it on our flights around the school. The Ice Creams grabbed their passports and prepared to board.
We have gone on multiple flights around the school, with each flight landing in 2-3 different rooms. The teachers have waited with stamps or stickers to put on each passenger’s passport. Each destination had recommendations of things to do or see before their next flight took off.
Orange Room and “Jahidah-land”
The Orange Room was full of silly jokes and gave stickers. Jahidah-land had relaxing jazz music playing during the travelers’ stay.
White Room
The White Room had airplane stickers! For some children, this was a flight back to a place they had already visited many times before. It’s always nice to travel to visit old friends.
Nicole-land and the Brown Room
Nicole-land had stickers you could touch and choose from. The Brown Room provided connection, because they were getting ready to go on their own adventure to the playground!
Sonia-land
In Sonia-land, she enjoys cookies and upbeat music!
We will continue going on flights as a class and exploring the Barrow community together. Safe travels!
